Hello fellow knitters,
We hope this newsletter finds everyone safe and healthy. Spring is on its way and the great outdoors will be calling. We have had some great presentations and I find myself with a few more projects thanks to the recent programs and the members who have been sharing their great projects. I have a brioche project, a double knitting project, a Navaho Knitting project, a lace weight Fair Isle sweater and a Shift cowl all started and taking turns in my knitting rotation. Too bad work gets in the way of my knitting. I plan on inventorying my yarn stash this afternoon in preparation for the next series of great programs we have planned.
March 6th at 9:00 We have our very own Marian Hooks presenting “Reversible cables”. We are so grateful to have such great talent in our group and people who are willing to share it. Get ready to learn something new!!
There is homework prior to the presentation:
For our sample (which could grow into a scarf, depending on how much yarn you have), pick a light, voluminous yarn—Marian suggests Sport or Worsted Weight. We will be knitting at a fairly loose gauge, so choose a needle one size bigger from what you would normally use with your yarn. You’ll also need a cable needle (even if you normally cable without a needle, please), or a double-pointed needle will work, too.
Cast on 48 stitches and work:
Rows 1-7: [K2, P2}, repeat to end of row.
Our demonstration will pick up at Row 8.
April 3rd will be Building in color with Jennifer Miller, Part 1 and
May 1st the presentation continues with Jennifer presenting Working with Hand Painted Yarns.
June 5th Martha Amey from the Guild will be presenting on crochet!! Get ready to get your edge on!!
July meeting would fall on a holiday weekend so we will probably take a break that month and return August 7th with a whole new line up of presentations
Wow we have some exciting programs coming up and I’m sure you don’t want to miss any of them. To all of you that have paid your annual dues, thank you very much. We have some new members joining us and if you know someone who is a knitter, please invite them to join us. If you haven’t already, take a look at our new website FRKG.org. Our tech master Larry has done a great job updating the website to be user-friendly and a great resource to share with other potential Guild members. We look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday March 6th.
